Audience
The target audience for the mobile mammography unit (Mobile Wellness) is women aged 40 and above who are at risk or susceptible to breast cancer. This project aims to reach underserved communities, particularly those in remote areas or with limited access to healthcare facilities. By bringing mammography services directly to these communities, the project aims to increase early detection rates and ultimately save lives.
Goals
Mobile Wellness, Saint Francis’s 45′ mobile healthcare coach, houses a state-of-the-art 3D mammography unit as its primary service offering. Mobile Wellness travels the region 45-50 weeks of the year, removing barriers to care and ensuring residents across southeast Missouri have access to life-saving preventative breast cancer screenings, as well as other necessary healthcare services.
In southeast Missouri, medically underserved communities are quite common, along with uninsured and underinsured residents. The best prevention for breast cancer is early detection through screening mammogram.
An opportunity existed in the implementation of a mobile mammography unit equipped with advanced imaging technology and staffed by trained healthcare professionals. Photography was needed to create collateral marketing materials to share in the communities visited by Mobile Wellness to share upcoming dates and encourage appointment scheduling.
The goals and objectives of the photography was to enhance access to the Mobile Wellness mammography services by reaching underserved communities through marketing efforts by sharing an image of the coach with upcoming dates and locations.
Implementation
Mobile Wellness was delivered to Saint Francis in late November 2022. When it arrived, there were necessary trainings before it could hit the road and begin serving our region. This afforded a limited window when a photographer would have access to take photos. Leading up to its arrival, the Marketing team at Saint Francis had generated a near perfect "dupe" using the exterior wrap artwork, but real photos were desired.
The photographer proceeded to take a series of exterior photos for use in marketing efforts. Unfortunately, it was a dreary, drizzling December day when the the photographer was scheduled. He worked his magic, making every attempt to ensure it did not look like the dead of winter in the photos.
The photos were then used for various advertising, including flyers, newspaper ads, digital billboards, social media, donor request materials, website and more.
Note: The photography was taken in 2022, and utilized in 2022 and 2023.
Results
The goal and objective of the photography was to enhance access to the Mobile Wellness mammography services by reaching underserved communities through marketing efforts by sharing an image of the coach with upcoming dates and locations.
The photos taken were utilized to promote Mobile Wellness and successfully achieved the goal and objective by sharing upcoming dates and locations across a variety of marketing mediums depending on the county being visited.
